Season 14 by the numbers: 87 pitches, 62 recorded on-air deals, the largest reported amounts and available buying information.

Seventy-one percent. That is how often a founder walked out of the Tank with a check in Season 14. Eighty-seven companies came through the doors across the 2022 to 2023 run. Sixty-two of them left with a deal. The sharks wrote $17.2M in total. This was a season that said yes more than it said no, and it said yes loudly.

Compare that to the season before. Season 13 closed at 67 percent. Season 14 jumped four points. That keeps a long trend alive: the sharks have gotten progressively friendlier to founders since the early years, when a coin flip was closer to your real odds. By Season 14, the math had tilted hard in the entrepreneur's favor.

The Deal Rate Tells the Story

A 71 percent close rate is not an accident. It reflects who shows up now. Founders walking into the Tank in Season 14 came better prepared, with real revenue and tighter numbers, because they had watched a decade of episodes and studied what works. The sharks reward that. When the pitch is clean and the sales are proven, the panel competes instead of picking apart. The fear of leaving with nothing pushes a shark to make an offer before a rival does.

Here is the catch though. A higher deal rate does not mean bigger checks. The season's $17.2M total was actually down from the prior year. So more founders got funded, but the average money per deal got thinner. The sharks spread their bets wider. They placed more chips on more tables rather than going deep on a few.

There is a viewer angle here too. A season where seven of every ten pitches end in a handshake plays differently on screen. Fewer brutal rejections, more celebration, more sharks elbowing each other for a stake. Season 14 was a confident, deal-heavy run, and the 71 percent figure is the cleanest single number to remember it by.

Collars&Co Took the Biggest Bite

The headline deal of the season was Collars&Co, which landed $1,000,000 for 10 percent equity. That is a $10 million valuation accepted on air, and it came from a duo: Mark Cuban teamed with guest shark Peter Jones to get it done. A guest shark on the biggest deal of the year is a fitting detail for Season 14, because the rotating-chair format was in full swing and outsiders were closing real business.

One million is a big number for any season, but notice what it is not. It is not a runaway outlier the way some past seasons produced. Season 6 had a $5 million deal. Season 14's top check sat at a clean, confident seven figures. That fits the pattern of a season built on volume and discipline rather than fireworks.

What Founders Were Selling

The category mix in Season 14 leaned toward Home & Lifestyle first, then Food & Drink, then Fashion & Beauty. That is a slightly different order than the food-first seasons that came before. Home goods edged ahead. People had spent a lot of time in their homes in the preceding years, and the products that came through the Tank reflected that shift in what shoppers actually wanted.

Food still placed second, which it almost always does. It is the most consistent category in the show's history, the safe middle of the menu. Fashion and beauty rounded out the top three. Together these three buckets soaked up most of the deals, which is normal. The Tank rewards categories the sharks understand and can sell into retail fast.

The Ones Still on Shelves

Plenty of Season 14 pitches have faded, but a handful are still moving product. The Woobles is the standout. The beginner crochet kit business turned a quirky pitch into a brand people actually buy and gift, and it remains one of the season's most durable names. Stealth Bros & Co kept its lane in organized travel and storage goods. Stakt Mat is still selling its foldable workout mat. And Banana Phone, the handset-shaped Bluetooth gadget, somehow keeps finding buyers who want the gag and the function.

That survival list matters more than any single deal valuation. A million-dollar handshake on television means nothing if the company folds two years later. The real scoreboard is which products you can still order today. Four names from Season 14 clear that bar, and a kit that teaches you to crochet a tiny octopus is leading the pack. Not a bad legacy for a single season of pitches.
