Product Update
Is Zipz Still in Business? (2026 Update)
What happened to Zipz after Shark Tank? Its on-air pitch and the latest reported consumer availability.
Zipz brought wine in a sealed, single-serve glass to Shark Tank. A current official ordering route for the original consumer product remains unconfirmed. Kevin O'Leary later recounted a Costco meeting that went wrong when he presented the package to a buyer.
The wine and its container
The product packaged a serving of wine in a sealed drinking glass. A customer could open an individual serving without buying a full bottle or supplying a separate drinking glass. That ready-to-open package was central to the retail opportunity O'Leary later described.
The Shark Tank pitch
Andrew McMurray presented Zipz in Season 6, Episode 11, which aired December 5, 2014. The recorded ask was $2.5 million for 10% of the company.
ABC's February 2, 2015 account says O'Leary offered $2.5 million and McMurray accepted on air. ABC described Costco as a possible sales channel if the wine could reach a lower price point.

The Costco meeting O'Leary described
In a Wine Spectator interview published November 17, 2021, O'Leary told MaryAnn Worobiec that he arranged an airport meeting with Annette Alvarez-Peters, then Costco's wine buyer. He brought a sample of the single-serve wine package for her to examine.
According to O'Leary, Alvarez-Peters tipped the sample while holding it over her purse, and wine leaked into the purse. He said that ended the Costco single-serve opportunity he had been pursuing. The account describes a failed presentation to one buyer, without giving a closure date for Zipz.
O'Leary also said Alvarez-Peters introduced him to the principals of Vintage Wine Estates for his separate wine business.

The later packaging focus
A September 30, 2023 Food Republic retrospective reported that Zipz had shifted from selling its own consumer wine toward supplying its packaging to other wine producers.

A supported current valuation is unavailable. The recorded $2.5 million ask for 10% put the pitch valuation at $25 million in 2014, before the later retail story O'Leary recounted.
Finding a single-serve wine glass
If you find a Zipz listing, confirm that the retailer has the actual item available. Match the maker, wine, serving size and package to what you intend to order, rather than relying on an old product photograph.
For another maker's single-serve wine, compare the wine itself, seal and included drinking container. Those details determine whether it suits the same occasion as the Zipz glass from Shark Tank.
